How To Install and Update Drivers Like a Pro in Windows

Updating or Installing drivers for your devices is essential after installing or upgrading your windows. Most of the devices won't work properly if you haven't installed the latest available drivers. The graphics cards are the best example. After you've installed windows you may see that the screen resolution is very low or even if its normal you can't play any games. That's because you haven't updated graphics card drivers. So you may have wondering how to do that,or you may have paying technicians to do that for you.But did you know with an internet connection you can do tat for yourself like in 15 mins?
So let's get to work.

How To Install and Update Drivers after installing Windows Like a Pro

There are many methods to do this.I'll show you some.

#1.Using Driver DVD/CD

Windows driver installation

If you bought your Laptop or Desktop recently you may still have this.Check boxes. Some laptop manufactures doesn't supply this.If you don't have this DVD or didn't get one move to the next method.Others go find this DVD now!If you assembled your PC after buying parts then you may have DVDs or CDs per device. One for the motherboard, one for the VGA etc.Find them all.

Once  you've found them put the Open the DVD or run Autorun.
And the wizard will scan your PC and install drivers automatically. Its very easy and I'm not going to walk you through it.

#2.Using Windows Update

There's a big chance that drivers for your hardware will be on Windows update. If you have already turned on this option and still no driver then you have to move to the next method.

First type Change device installation settings in search and open it.

Windows driver installation

Select 'Yes do this automatically' and click save settings.

Windows driver installation

Now Go to device manager,(Search Device manager)
Click Search for hardware changes, and the drivers will be automatically downloaded and installed.

#3.Manually installing Drivers

First you need to identify the hardware which is missing drivers.Go to device manager and search for any listing with a yellow exclamation mark.
Now search Google for " [Manufacture, Device model] drivers download" if it isn't outdated yet you'll get Google results from the manufacture's site.

manual driver install

Go to their site and download the drivers. Then install it.

If you can't find the device model from Device Manager follow these steps.

If you have missing VGA drivers then you can find the VGA model on the VGA card.If you don't have a VGA card and its an onboard VGA then you have to find your motherboard model. Its printed on the motherboard ,if you're lazy enough not to open the cover then type 'dxdiag' in search and open it.
direct X

Open it and you'll get your motherboard model under 'System model'.Search Google for [Manufacture, motherboard model, motherboard drivers download ] .Download the driver from the relevant site and install them.If you have integrated sound cards,USB controllers,SATA controllers and Ethernet Controllers, all the drivers for them can be downloaded from the same site.

#4.If none of these options work for you

Download and install a third party driver updater. They are not freeware. You need to pay for them. But I've found some free limited softwares. These free driver updaters are great if you only need drivers for a few devices.

#Driver Max

Driver Max

These driver updaters will automatically search missing drivers and install them. The free version of Driver max will let you to update 2 drivers per day max.
There are so many driver updaters on the internet ,search for them. The best driver updater for me is Driver Cure.Unfortunately the free version of Driver cure will only detect the missing drivers it won't install them.Drivers.com driver updater is fine also.

USE HARDWARE ACCELERATION FOR VIDEO PLAYBACK | 4K HEVC 10bit | GPU DECODING GOOD or BAD ?

So as it seems that 4K is getting popular these days, but some people who have older computers may have some trouble playing 4K videos. Especially 10bit HEVC (x265) format. But the support for hardware decoding of HEVC 10 bit videos has been added few years ago. First of all lets see whether this hardware decoding is better than normal software(CPU) decoding compared with power. We won't be playing a game while watching a movie of course, at least not with a single monitor setup. So we can stop worrying about GPU usage going for 100% while watching a movie. But you could be doing many tasks with CPU while watching a movie. It is very practical. So lets turn into power consumption. This is very important for laptops. The following details are from a laptop with Intel Core i5 8250u with Intel HD graphics 620. File details. I used VLC media player latest version. All the Nvidia and Intel drivers used here are uptodate. Make sure you have the latest software and driv

DC Motor,Computer Cooling Fan Speed Controller Circuit DIY using Single Transistor And a Potentiometer

The circuit above can control speed of your DC motors or Computer Fans.If you use this to control speed of DC motors please use a diode to protect the Transistor,brush-less fans -OK.You can change the variable speed range by changing the value of R1 potentiometer. But don't use very high values, its pointless. The transistor used here is a NPN 2n3055,it can handle up to 15A and 115W of power. And this transistor can handle up to 60V.So if you're using this for PC fans you can add more in parallel.Normally a computer fan uses about 0.4W of power. Some powerful ones may use about 7W of power. If you don't use so much power then you can use a low power transistor like C1061,D313 etc. If you don't want to change the speed too often or hard to find a potentiometer or just willing to make this out of scrap you can use a Trim resistor for R1. The transistor may heat up very much and its essential to use a Heat sink.If you can,do not solder the transistor to the PCB s
