Things You Should Know Before CPU Upgrading

Need to play CPU hungry games or HD video editing? If you have a faster CPU you can edit HD Video and play games fast.If you think your processor is not very much fast for your work then you must read the rest of this article.

CPU Upgrade

As the technology develops day by day the programs are also made up to date with faster
CPUs.So the older ones won't be able to handle the programs anymore. That's why you have to upgrade.
When upgrading the CPU sometimes you may have to upgrade your power supply and RAM cards too.Power supply is not much necessary but the RAM cards should match the CPU's bus speeds.
If your motherboard is LGA 775 or older, upgrading both motherboard and CPU is much wiser. But some LGA775 boards like p35,p43,p45 do not need any upgrades. You can upgrade the processor only.
I don't say all the other LGA 775s must be upgraded, but it is easier to find a very fast CPU for a LGA 1156 board than for a LGA 775.First you must recognize the CPU socket of your motherboard. They vary depending on the manufacture.Intel,AMD,Nvidia etc..In motherboards which use intel chip-sets the socket must be intel,so only intel CPUs can be used.Same applies to the other manufactures also. The application CPU-Z an be used to find out all the information you need for CPU upgrade.
When you only upgrade the CPU you need to consider about these things.First check whether your motherboard support the CPU model.Search on internet and forums for help.Even though you have LGA 775 your motherboards may not support models like Core 2 Quad , Core 2 Extreme etc. Then check whether your RAM cards match the CPU bus speed. You can find CPU's bus speed from intel specification page. The RAM card's bus speed is usually printed on the sticker on it.If your CPU has a bus speed of 1333 MHz , you need to find a RAM card with a bus speed of at least 1333 MHz or higher.RAM cards with higher bus speeds can be connected but it doesn't effect the speed, just cost you more. But if you intend to overclock your CPU very much then it is wiser to buy a RAM card with higher bus speed.

Then finally you must get a good cooling system for your new CPU.The stock cooler won't do a lot of cooling.Sometimes you may not get a cooler with your new CPU.So the old cooler does not match your new CPU.Search eBay for good coolers. Zalman coolers are more expensive but high performance. You don't need to find very expensive ones try to get a cooler with copper pipes.

USE HARDWARE ACCELERATION FOR VIDEO PLAYBACK | 4K HEVC 10bit | GPU DECODING GOOD or BAD ?

So as it seems that 4K is getting popular these days, but some people who have older computers may have some trouble playing 4K videos. Especially 10bit HEVC (x265) format. But the support for hardware decoding of HEVC 10 bit videos has been added few years ago. First of all lets see whether this hardware decoding is better than normal software(CPU) decoding compared with power. We won't be playing a game while watching a movie of course, at least not with a single monitor setup. So we can stop worrying about GPU usage going for 100% while watching a movie. But you could be doing many tasks with CPU while watching a movie. It is very practical. So lets turn into power consumption. This is very important for laptops. The following details are from a laptop with Intel Core i5 8250u with Intel HD graphics 620. File details. I used VLC media player latest version. All the Nvidia and Intel drivers used here are uptodate. Make sure you have the latest software and driv

DC Motor,Computer Cooling Fan Speed Controller Circuit DIY using Single Transistor And a Potentiometer

The circuit above can control speed of your DC motors or Computer Fans.If you use this to control speed of DC motors please use a diode to protect the Transistor,brush-less fans -OK.You can change the variable speed range by changing the value of R1 potentiometer. But don't use very high values, its pointless. The transistor used here is a NPN 2n3055,it can handle up to 15A and 115W of power. And this transistor can handle up to 60V.So if you're using this for PC fans you can add more in parallel.Normally a computer fan uses about 0.4W of power. Some powerful ones may use about 7W of power. If you don't use so much power then you can use a low power transistor like C1061,D313 etc. If you don't want to change the speed too often or hard to find a potentiometer or just willing to make this out of scrap you can use a Trim resistor for R1. The transistor may heat up very much and its essential to use a Heat sink.If you can,do not solder the transistor to the PCB s
