How To Record Your Screen PC with Sound

The screen recording has many purposes.Some people do it for their youtube channel,some people make their self learning videos also.For recording screen the best freeware is to use is Cam Studio. It is the best opensource software to record your screen.It supports AVI and SWF formats.It has options to highlight the cursor,automatic pan and record with sound.You can also add screen annotations while recording.

Start Recording

Once you have set up for the recording click on the big red button at the bottom of the left side.

To stop the recording Click on the Blue Stop button.

Selecting Specified Areas For Recording

In the menu bar Select Region and Region again for selecting a rectangular area before recording.You can draw the rectangular area and select it after you click the record button.If you choose Fixed Region you can select a fixed area for recording.(The region area could be moved)Give desired width and height.The window option could be used for recording only a window.And of course you can record the full screen too.

Highlighting the Cursor

Highlighting the cursor is important if you record at a high resolution.To highlight the cursor go to Options > Cursor Options.Check the Highlight the cursor box.You can adjust the settings here as you like.

Selecting Audio Source

Cam Studio has options for recording audio from microphone or speakers.If you select speakers the playing audio on your speakers will be recorded to your screen record.

You may get a very large file after the recording.It can be fixed by converting using Format Factory easily.It will reduce the 100MB file size to about 30 - 40MB.If you install the Cam Studio Lossless video codec you can reduce the file size without converting.Follow the steps below.

1.Go to Options > Video Options.
2.Change the compressor to Cam Studio Lossless Video Codec from the drop down menu.

3.To get high quality recordings move the Time Lapse to right side.Note that it will use more CPU power.
4.After you're done click on the OK button.

Reasons That Will Make Your Videos Low Quality

Your CPU is not fast enough or you haven't set the settings for high quality videos.
You don't have a good GPU.You need a separate video card for high quality videos.The onboard GPU is not fast enough.
You may be using the wrong Compressor.Check whether you used Cam Studio Lossless Video Codec.
